Perhaps give away the e-book for free, but print and publish a hard copy version of it and sell that. If it is a top quality e-book with a lot of great content, people may decide to buy the hard copy as well for referencing, taking notes in, drawing silly scribbles…

Or, take the ‘tip jar’ approach. Give it away, but ask if someone would kindly donate an unspecified amount for the e-book.

All your examples include “make and sell” and this is not considered residual income. “…..the only work you needed to do is to make that Wordpress theme initially. After that, any income you receive is residual…” – profit is the correct term to use, but only after the expense of the time used to create the product is covered.

If you’re a designer and you repurpose something you created, then can it be categorized as residual.

Sorry to be a downer, but the general idea of the many opportunites out there is right on!

I’d give them a way – and include many links back to your site (assuming you’re generating income from your site). It’s possible that that would bring in more revenue than selling it. Selling it will limit the amount of readers drastically. Everyone loves free stuff. If they liked what they read, they’ll probably come visit your site.
